How It Works
How The Project Desk works
We're not a contractor — we're the desk that coordinates your project search. Here's exactly what we do, and why it works better for homeowners.
What we are
- A Colorado-based coordination service
- A team that qualifies your project before booking
- Your single point of contact for scheduling
- Free for homeowners — always
What we aren't
- A contractor (we don't do the work)
- A lead seller that blasts your info to whoever pays
- A service that surprises you with calls from companies you've never heard of
- A subscription or paid platform
What the process looks like
Tell us about your project
Fill out a short form on our site or call us directly. You'll share what you're planning, your timeline, and your ZIP code. This takes about 60 seconds. We use this to make sure your project fits one of our verticals and that we have a specialist who serves your area.
We qualify and line it up
Usually within minutes during business hours, and always within one business day, we'll reach out to confirm a few details: project scope, your preferred timeline, that you're authorized to request work on the property, and whether you'd like to meet one pro or compare a few. This is a short, friendly conversation, not a sales pitch. Once we've confirmed the basics, we get each appointment on your calendar at a specific date and time.
Meet your pro
Your matched contractor arrives on the date and time we scheduled. They already know what you're working on. You don't have to re-explain everything or wait around for a vague "sometime between 9 and 5" window. They'll walk through your project, take measurements, and discuss options.
You decide from here
Your pro will put together a written proposal, typically within a few days. From that point forward, you're working directly with the contractor — we step out of the way. There's no pressure, no follow-up sales calls from us, and no obligation. If you don't move forward, that's fine. If you do, you and your contractor handle the project.
How we're different from lead-gen sites
| Category | The Project Desk | Typical Lead-Gen Sites |
|---|---|---|
| Who else gets my information? | Only the pros you choose — one, or a few to compare | Whoever buys the lead — you never know who |
| Who qualifies my project? | We do — before any contractor sees it | Nobody — contractors call cold |
| Who books the appointments? | We book them directly on the contractors' calendars | Contractors call and you schedule |
| Will I get spam-called? | No — you'll know exactly who's calling and when | Yes — multiple contractors will call repeatedly |
| Is my data resold? | No, ever | Often, sometimes to third parties |
| What's the cost to me? | Free | Free — but you pay in time and unwanted calls |
Our standards
How we choose specialists
Every specialist in our network meets these standards before we send them a single appointment.
Licensed & insured
Current general-liability insurance and any licensing required for their trade and the jurisdictions they serve, verified at onboarding.
Established locally
A real track record in the Colorado market — not a fly-by-night operator chasing the next hail storm.
Committed appointments
Every appointment we send is qualified and confirmed on the calendar. In exchange, they commit to showing up on time, prepared, and professional.
Consistent quality
We track outcomes and feedback. Specialists who don't meet the bar don't stay in our network.
Frequently asked questions
Nothing. The Project Desk is free for homeowners. Our contractors pay us a flat per-appointment fee for the qualified appointment, regardless of whether the project ends up moving forward. That structure is what lets us stay independent and focused on quality over quantity.
A vetted local pro matched to your project type. We coordinate the introduction and the appointment, but the contractor is who you'll work with directly once we've connected you.
No. Your information goes only to the specialists you're scheduled with — and we tell you exactly who they are and when they'll reach out. We send scheduling confirmations and a courtesy reminder before your appointments, and that's it. You can opt out of messages from us at any time by replying STOP.
Tell us. We'd rather know than not. If there's a fit issue, we'll look at whether we have another specialist who might be a better match for your project.
Absolutely — you're never obligated to work with the pro we match you with. Whatever they put together for you is yours to take wherever you want. We just want to make sure you have at least one solid, qualified option in hand.
Reach out anyway. We currently focus on basement finishing, roofing, and outdoor living in Colorado, and we're adding verticals over time. If we can't help, we'll tell you straight.
Those sites sell your contact information as a lead to whoever pays — then you get cold calls from companies you've never heard of. We work differently. We qualify your project first, you choose whether to meet one vetted pro or compare a few, and we get each appointment on your calendar for you. You know exactly who's coming, when they're coming, and no one else ever gets your information.
Not yet. We're focused on Colorado homeowners right now. As we expand, we'll add new markets.
